Live lighter. Think clearer
That’s the idea I kept coming back to — again and again — whenever life felt too heavy, too noisy, too full of things that didn’t feel like me.
I created Simpler Self as a place to share what I’ve been learning on the way to living a more grounded, thoughtful life. It’s not about being perfect or getting everything right. It’s about making space — physically, emotionally, spiritually — to be more present, more clear, more… yourself.
A Little About Me
I’m not a monk, or a minimalist guru, or a perfect eater.
I’m just a person who’s let go of a lot — and is still learning how to keep only what matters.
I’ve worked in tech. I’ve lived fast. I’ve downsized and reset more than once. But these days, I care more about how my choices feel than how they look. I eat vegetarian (in a way that works for me), I try to move slowly through my mornings, and I think a lot about what we give our energy and attention to.
I’m drawn to Tibetan Buddhist practice — especially how it meets you right where you are, with gentleness and honesty. I don’t live in a monastery. I live in the real world — with a partner I love, a dog who’s basically a little bodhisattva in disguise, and all the daily rhythms of a quiet but very human life.
Henry, our 12-pound companion, is mostly white with touches of apricot and a big heart. Sensitive, sweet, and slightly dramatic, he reminds me every day that calm isn’t about perfection — it’s about feeling safe, seen, and loved.
What You’ll Find Here
This space is a mix of:
- Minimalism, but lived — not aesthetic
- Vegetarian living that’s practical and nourishing
- Intentional living, including digital simplicity and ethical tools
- Buddhism for everyday people (like me) — rooted in tradition, but not performative
You’ll also find moments of slowness, breath, and reflection. Not as rules — just as reminders.
🐾 A Quiet Signature
Written from a peaceful spot on the couch,
with tea in hand, Henry curled beside me, and the one I love close by.
Why This Exists
Because sometimes it helps to hear:
You’re allowed to want less.
You’re allowed to start over.
You’re allowed to live more simply — even if no one else around you is.
This site isn’t a how-to guide. It’s a shared path.
If you’re looking for a softer, simpler way forward… I’m right there with you.
